Church of Reason 40th Anniversary

December 15th 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Church of Reason
and its predecessor organizations. The unitary mission of this organization of seekers
of eternal truths uses the rational conscience of reasonable people to uncover
whatever truths we can find. The name has evolved over the years as more is learned
about reality.
We have learned that selfishness, as defined by Ayn Rand, is a positive force for the
good of humanity, while altruism is a negative force that tends to cripple. The things
that have improved mankind's lot have all come from innovations of individual people,
while the things that have slowed progress have all come from the attempts of
altruists to make all humanity equal.
Some day we hope that a majority of people will realize real prosperity can only come
from growth within and that attempts to redistribute the efforts of others will always
do more harm then good. Let us pray that people will realize this sooner rather then later.

My Opinion,
Thomas D. Blackburn, Ph.D.
Director and Minister, Church of Reason

Reason, not faith...

Religion is man's attempt to live in the light of what he holds
to be ultimately true and good.* The Church of Reason is a
non-mystical church dedicated to human achievement through reason.

*"To be religious is to is to effect in some way and in some measure a vital
adjustment (however tentative and incomplete) to whatever is reacted to or regarded
implicitly or explicitly as worthy of serious and ulterior concern."
